ZAMBOANGA CITY, Aug 14 (PIA) – On top of a new Malasakit Center in Zamboanga City, Senator Bong Go bared a variety of medical assistance packages for indigents patients “to not make their lives more difficult” during their time of need.
Senator Go, the chair of the Senate Committee on Health launched the 136th Malasakit Center in the country today (August 14) in Labuan General Hospital. He also turned over a Php2-million cheque to augment financial assistance for the Malasakit Center in Labuan should the hospital bills of indigents go over the maximum covered amount.
“This Php2-million will be replenished every month,” Senator Go said.
Senator Go also committed to assist patients needing major surgeries that cannot be done in the city.
“If medical procedures cannot be done here such as kidney transplants and amputations, we will help you go to Manila or Davao. Just seek help from us,” he said.
The senator committed the government’s help even for patients who do not have money for fares. “The DSWD will be providing you with fares should you need them at the Malasakit Center,” he added.
Senator Go called on doctors and other hospital personnel to be more compassionate towards the indigent patients, as they are already experiencing much difficulties. Nevertheless, he commended the efforts of medical frontliners and social workers for their continuous service during the pandemic. (RVC/EDT/DIS/PIA9-Zamboanga City)
