MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--In preparation for the opening of classes through modular distance learning this year, the Department of Education (DepEd) Marawi kicked off the annual Brigada Eskwela.
Newly-designated DepEd Marawi Schools Division Superintendent Anna Zenaida Unte-Alonto said that this annual activity is a manifestation of Bayanihan (collaboration) wherein everybody is supporting each other including communities, stakeholders, and teachers. However, in the midst of a pandemic, she said that they will focus more on the sanitation and minor repair of the schools
“With the pandemic now, there are slight changes in pursuit of Brigada Eskwela. We will intensify the sanitation, minor repair, and cleanliness of our school. However we will put more emphasis on Brigada Pagbasa and other preparation that entails the prevention of COVID-19 to our learners and teachers,” she said.

Signifying support for the learning continuity of the children, a caravan was also conducted participated by 112 vehicles and 12 motorcycles.
The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MHBTE) Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao turned over 2,506 boxes of bond paper which will be distributed to the schools under the city division.
On the other hand, World Vision turned over learners' kits, rubbing alcohol, germicidal soap, and liquid soap to its school beneficiaries.
