MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)-- The World Vision Philippines opened another newly constructed playground and handwashing facility in Hadji Hassan Elementary School (ES) in Barangay Malimono that accommodates pupils from kindergarten to Grade 5. 

“We believe in providing safe spaces for children, as a means for psychosocial support for them, especially with this situation. Providing these places actually provides opportunities for the children to play,” said World Vision Project Manager for Marawi Initiatives Adonis Casinillo. 

Emphasizing that frequent handwashing is a universal way of preventing diseases, Casinillo also noted the significance of handwashing facilities especially in the fight against the pandemic. He also encourages the children to practice handwashing even at their homes. 

Aisah Macataman of H. Hassan ES expressed gratitude on behalf of the teachers and learners of their school. She shared that the organization also provided them with trainings, tablets, LCD projector, and  MiPRO portable speakers. 

“We would like to thank World Vision for giving us opportunities to be part of this project. Malaking tulong ito sa amin lalo na ngayong [This is a big help to us especially this] pandemic,” she said. 

Under the Marawi Peace and Protection Project-Phase 3 and Urban Child Protection Project, the child-focused organization targets to turn over a total of six playgrounds and six handwashing facilities to different schools in the City. (LELA/PIA-ICIC)
