TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Aug. 16 (PIA) -- The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for Bohol COVID showed on Aug. 12 that the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH) in Tagbilaran City has barely enough hospital rooms to accommodate COVID-19 patients.
Thirty-three of the 36 COVID Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at GCGMH were occupied, with only three COVID ICU beds vacant on that day.
For the hospital’s COVID-19 ward beds, as of Aug. 12, 26 of the 28 rooms are already occupied, with only two vacant bed available.
All of the hospital’s 17 COVID Isolation beds are occupied as of the same day.
Of GCGMH’s 16 mechanical ventilators which are crucial in delivering oxygen to an oxygen-deprived patient to prevent organ damage, the hospital still has nine available with seven occupied.
For to its 29 non-COVID ICU beds, Gallares still has nine beds available with 20 fully occupied.
For its 125 non-ICU beds which can be used for COVID patients, nearly half or 61 are still available while 64 are occupied, according to the EOC dashboard maintained daily by Bohol Information Communication Technology Unit.
As to Bohol’s leading secondary hospitals, of a total of 12 COVID ICU beds, only four are available: two at the Ramiro Community Hospital (RCH) and another two at Allied Care Experts (ACE) Medical Care Hospital.
The rest of the secondary hospitals in Tagbilaran City have no COVID ICU bed provisions.
These secondary level hospitals such as RCH, ACE Medical Center, Tagbilaran Community Hospital (TagComm), and Holy Name University (HNU) all do not have COVID wards as well.
As to COVID isolation beds, of the total 69 beds, only 23 are available: ACE has seven; Ramiro has three; TagComm has eigth; and HNU has five beds available, bringing to 30% the total beds available.
For a total of 10 mechanical ventilators in the said hospitals, eight are still available, namely: four at ACE, two at HNU, and one each for RCH and Tagcomm.
For non-COVID ICU beds, of the 14 from the said hospitals, only five are available: two at HNU and three at TagComm, based on the EOC data on Aug 12.
For the cumulative 158 non-ICU beds for COVID-19 patients, only 55 are available: 14 at ACE, 23 at RCH, 10 at TagComm, and eight at HNU.
In Bohol’s primary hospitals, only one of the three ICU beds is available which is at Don Emilio del Valle Memorial Hospital (DEDVMH) in Ubay town.
Of the 46 COVID-19 ward beds in the said hospitals, the following are available: one at Borja Family Hospital Corp.(BFHC), one at DEDVMH, seven at Medical Mission Group of Hospitals (MMG), and six at Tagbilaran Haternity and Children’s Hospital (TMCH).
Only 16 of the COVID isolation beds are also vacant in the following hospitals: seven at Catigbian District Hospital (CDH), five at Carmen’s Cong Simeon Toribio memorial Hospital (CSTMH), one at Dr. Lims Clinic and Hospital in Valencia, and three at Jagna’s Teodoro B Galagar District Hospital (TBGDH).
The tertiary hospitals, however, still have four mechanical ventilators: three at DEDVMH and one at Dr Lims Clinic.
For the non-COVID ICU beds, the said hospitals still have 14 available beds of the total number of 23 beds: three at BFHC and 11 at DEDVMH in Ubay.
As to their non-ICU beds for COVID, of the 488 total beds from the said hospitals, 317 are still unoccupied, namely: BFHC (14); CDH (15); Concepcion Memorial Hospital (30); CSTMH (18); DEDVMH (86); Dr Lim’s Clinic and Hospital (1); Garcia Memorial Provincial Hospital in Talibon (33); Lim Community Hospital in Valencia (29); MMGH (31); TMCH (8); TBGMH in Jagna (42).
