ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--A couple of hospitals here are already encountering exigency caused by the surge of coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 in the city.
The Adventist Medical Center-Iligan, the first-ever hospital in the city to have received a COVID-19 patient during the onset of the pandemic, has declared full capacity Sunday, August 15.
In an issued public advisory, the healthcare facility bared that it has hit the critical stage wherein beds intended for COVID-19 patients are already crammed, directing patients to other health facilities for their emergency medical concerns.

Meanwhile, the Gregorio T. Lluch Memorial Hospital known to be the sole government hospital in the city also released an advisory earlier revealing that it has apportioned 30% of its authorized bed capacity to accommodate moderate to severe COVID-19 cases.
Such hospital additionally posted Sunday, August 15, temporary suspension of its outpatient consultation services beginning August 16.
Due to the current situation, citizens are urged to stay at home, avoid mass gatherings as much as possible, and strictly follow minimum health and safety protocols when in public places to help mitigate the COVID-19 transmission.
The Iligan City Emergency Operation Center Health Cluster registered 54 new cases as of 3:00 pm on Monday, August 16, tallying a total of 265 active cases. (CRG/PIA-ICIC)
