CIAC ramps up COVID-19 vaccination, testing of workforce

CLARK (PIA) -- Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) is ramping up COVID-19 vaccination and eyes regular antigen testing for its employees.

President and CEO Aaron Aquino said they aim to fully-vaccinate the entire workforce by September, and purchase an antigen test machine for regular testing thereafter.

“This will be our two-pronged approach to fight COVID-19 at CIAC that while vaccines are generally working well, some fully-vaccinated individuals may still get infected because no vaccine is 100 percent effective,” Aquino said.

This approach is the state firm’s way of contributing to the national vaccination campaign.

“On a national scale, the inoculation process is a daunting task and so we hope by getting all our staff fully-vaccinated and tested on a regular basis, we’ll be able to help the government in its continued effort to fight COVID-19,” Aquino said.

He also shared that they are awaiting the go signal of the national government for the purchase of an antigen machine for CIAC to have an economical way to ensure and sustain a COVID-free workplace.

Meanwhile, he thanked National Task Force Against COVID-19 Deputy Chief Implementer Vince Dizon for including CIAC employees in the inoculation campaign inside Clark Freeport Zone.

As of August 16, 91% or 142 out of 156 CIAC employees have already been jabbed. Of this number, 91 or 58% are fully-vaccinated; while 51 or 33% have been given their first dose. (CLJD/MJSC-PIA 3)
