BAMBANG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - - The Department of Agriculture (DA) recently launched the Watershed Development and Management Project (WDMP) for Small Water Impounding Project (SWIP) in barangay Mauan here.

Mayor Pepito Balgos said the WDMP-SWIP will be established in sitios Ipuran-Kalangkaan from January to December next year.

He said the WDMP-SWIP seeks to develop the 42-hectare watershed which will benefit at least 49 households.

Balgos said the project is one of the soils and water conservation measures that aims to protect, conserve, and improve the land resources for efficient and sustained production.

He said the project will also maintain the hydrological stability and  lifespan  of the SWIP in the area.

“This will improve the water supply in the SWIP which will be used by our farmers in their agriculture production efforts,” Balgos said.

He said the recent launching of the WDMP-SWIP was highlighted with the  planting of high value crops and fruit bearing trees by  DA workers, MLGU officials and farmers in the area.# (MDCT/BME/PIA Nueva Vizcaya)
