MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--Trainees of Department of Information and Communications Technology’s (DICT) digitaljobsPh training envisioned to acquire job opportunities online and be full-time freelancers.

Now on their sixth day of training, the trainees shared their hopes that they will upgrade their digital skills and get clients online.

Yasser Jhaffar Lomondot from Barangay Sangkay Dansalan of Marawi’s most affected area is thankful that he was able to see the Facebook post calling for interested applicants for the Social Media Marketing and Advertising training of DICT.

Lomondot said he has learned a lot about social media marketing and garnering engagements during the training.

“Ang vision ko dito sa training, maka-earn at makatulong sa pamilya kasi lahat ng pamilya ko nasa abroad, gusto ko pauwiin sila at dito nalang manirahan sa lugar natin sa Marawi,” he said.

[My vision in this training is to earn and help my family because all of them are abroad, I want them to go home and just live here in our place in Marawi.]

With a background in graphic designing, Lomondot has seen interest in social media marketing. He shared that he prefers freelancing for it gives him freedom in his time.

On the other hand, Sorayah Maunda said she wants to find a job and earn money to help her siblings. Being the breadwinner of their family, Maunda hopes that she will work online while being with her siblings at home.

“Sa DICT, maraming salamat sa oportunidad na binigay ninyo sa amin upang matuto sa social media marketing at magamit sa future para magkaroon ng work tulad namin na kasalukuyang walang work,” she said.

Through digitaljobsPh training, DICT seeks to capacitate more residents with relevant information and communication technology skills for them to earn at home through the freelance industry. (LELA/ PIA-ICIC)
