MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--National Housing Authority (NHA) General Manager Marcelino Escalada Jr. conveyed that the rehabilitation efforts for the war-torn city, especially the infrastructure projects, come as a legacy of the Duterte administration.
“This is the gift. Mao ni ang legacy. Mao ni ang pamana sa Duterte administration that indeed, ang atoang [our] administration, under the Duterte administration, under sa [the] NHA leadership, we are very serious in trying to provide the basic necessities, as well as facilities nga ang kinabuhi sa mga atong kaigsoonang Maranao diri sa [so that the lives of our Maranao brothers and sisters here in] Marawi will be back into normalcy,” he said.
Escalada said the ongoing road networks consisting of primary, secondary, and tertiary roads will be the latest project they will finish soon.
He also cited that other construction of facilities under his jurisdiction, specifically the Sarimanok Sports Stadium and the Convention Center, are on track as he conducted an ocular site inspection Tuesday, August 17, to assure that such will enable development among the Marawi citizens.

As the government, especially the NHA, strives to bring back the city affected by the siege four years ago, Escalada remains hopeful that the residents will welcome the facilities.
“We can only do so much. Mao ra ni ang atong matrabaho [We can only work on these] but NHA is trying our best with our technical person and our project management office nga ayuson tanan, nga mahatag nato ang [to fix everything, to give] what the Maranao people long deserve to enjoy and to have sa ilang pagpuyo balik sa [as they return home in the] most affected area,” he said.
Earlier, the NHA signed an agreement with the local government here for the P400-million budget covering the compensation for the land acquisition of the road right-of-way for road projects and site acquisition for various physical infrastructure projects in MAA. (CRG/PIA-ICIC)
