Infra projects in Sta. Teresita continue amid pandemic

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - - Despite the ill-effects of the global Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the priority infrastructure projects in this town were implemented.

Mayor Rodrigo P. De Gracia said that they must ensure the completion of the planned development projects as they need to pursue substantial improvements in Cagayan province's youngest municipality.

He said that aside from the improved accessibility and the opening of circumferential and connectivity roads, there were also road networks opened and paved leading to the town's tourist destinations. This was under the tourism road infrastructure program of the the tourism department.

"We also have on-going projects to include the paving of farm-to-market roads not only for our farmers, but also for commuters and locals who [will be benefitted with roads with improved accesibility," De Gracia stated.

The sanitary landfill being established in Sta. Teresita amounts to around P10 million in funding.

He further said that some of the upgraded transportation connectivity also leads to the identified former rebel-infested barangays of the town in order to fulfill the thrust of the government to enable development in the countryside.

De Gracia also said that they are establishing the town's sanitary landfill, worth P10 million, which is one of the major facilities required by local government units to ensure proper solid waste management.

The mayor, who is a former lawyer and police general, also stated that the municipal public market, gymnasium, and town hall, which are, according to him, the show windows of the municipality, are under rehabilitation.
