DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Aug. 23 (PIA) -- Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division Commander Maj. Gen. Eric Vinoya awarded the Military Merit Medal (Bronze Spearhead Device) to five exemplary personnel involved in two combat operations of the 11th Infantry Battalion.
The personnel were instrumental in dismantling the New People’s Army (NPA) South East Front (SEF), Kometing Rehiyon-Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor (KR-NCBS).
The activity was held during Vinoya’s final visit at the Army’s camp on Aug. 22, which was highlighted with the awarding of Campaign Plan Kalinong II Streamer to the 11th IB in Siaton town, this province.
Vinoya was accorded with foyer honors and reception line hosted by Acting Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Roderick Salayo along with his staff.
Vinoya lauded the troops who received the Military Merit Medals as well other troopers for their accomplishments.
He also shared his three guiding principles that steered his 38 years in the military service; excellence, commitment, and victory.
"I am contented with what I have achieved for the 38 years, but looking back, none of those things (would have) happened without the contribution and support of all the people around me, kasama kayo dun (including all of you)," he said.
Salayo thanked Vinoya for all of his support, motivation, and supervision which greatly helped the unit in accomplishing its mission.
The Lapu-Lapu troopers were inspired by the leadership of Vinoya for setting clear goals in the organization and for his determination to accomplish the unit’s mission.
“His remarkable headship made the Lapu-Lapu Troopers realized that commitment to profession is vital in performing their mandate of serving and securing the Negrenses,” said Salayo. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental with reports from 1Lt. Rogem Lanuza, PA)
