CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - The Department of Agriculture (DA) recently inaugurated and turned over the P5.5 million Banana Processing facility in the town of San Agustin to help the Isabela Cacao, Coffee and Banana Farmers Associaton.
DA-2 Director Narciso Edillo said the project will be used by the association in boosting the processing of local products to increase their production and income.
“DA will continue providing assistance to your association particularly in the marketing of your processed products not only in the region but also in other parts of the country and even abroad,” hesaid.
Edillo said the project was realized through the funding from Bayanihan II through the DA.
Acting Mayor Larry Mark Lloyd Guerrero of San Agustin town expressed his gratitude to DA for establishing the project in the town which will surely benefit the farmers.
"On behalf of the whole officialdom and populace of San Agustin, we would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to DA-2 for providing this facility to our farmers here,” Guerrero said.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Isabela head Winston Singun also assured their support to the operation of the project through product packaging and labelling including the marketing of processed products.
Aside from the building, the DA also provided 15,000 pieces banana planting materials, 300 packs of plant growth enhancer, 3 units soil auger and 3 units brush cutter. (BME/MGE/PIA Isabela)
