BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - - The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is expected to complete the construction of a Rockfall Netting Project along the Nueva Vizcaya - Pangasinan alternate Road.
Engineer Glenn Miguel, DPWH 2nd District chief said the P33 million project, located in barangay Imugan in Sta. Fe town which was started in June 2021 is expected to be completed on September 13 this year.
The project involves the construction of 810.00 square meters Rockfall Netting including Hydro seeding.
“The danger of rockfalls is currently increasing brought by climate change and this has been the recurring problem for mountainous areas. Rockfall Netting is the perfect infrastructure project in Nueva Vizcaya since most roads are prone to soil collapse and landslide,” Miguel said.
He said the construction of the pilot project will mitigate the effects of falling rocks and soil collapses, which will prolong the service life of the roads within the area.
“This will also keep the road networks passable all the times specially during calamities giving mobility for rescues and services,” Miguel said.
He said the project which was funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) 2021 generated jobs and opportunities for residents of barangay Imugan, providing livelihood for their economy and improved mobility of farmers in transporting their products to the market.(MDCT/BME/PIA Nueva Vizcaya)
