MSU Exec VP says partnership with ICRC a mutual benefit

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--The Mindanao State University (MSU)-Main Campus in the city underscored that its partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)-Philippines is a relationship sharing mutual benefits.

MSU executive vice president Dr. Rasid Paca conveyed that the university, prepared to aid its partner international organization, is settled in a win-win situation wherein the citizenry of the province of Lanao del Sur and Marawi City get to gain an advantage.

“MSU, as ICRC’s partner, is well-equipped and established to assist in the fulfillment of the ICRC’s mandate. Its partnership is of mutual benefit, good for the university and good for the ICRC and finally, good for the entire people of this region,” he said.

With their partnership, Paca expressed his gratefulness to the organization for its past contribution to the affected lives in the city and its province after the historic armed conflict transpired four years ago.

“We cannot thank you enough for alleviating the suffering of our people. We are the lucky recipients of your mandate. The Mindanao State University, in return, recognizes your great contribution to Marawi helping [our] people by partnering with you and allowing you to establish your temporary satellite office herein MSU library,” said Paca.

The ICRC together with the university’s King Faisal Center for Islamic, Arabic and Asian Studies (KFCIAAS) launched the book “Articles on Islam and International Humanitarian Law” Wednesday, August 25, which the executive vice president found beyond significant and crucial in their context considering the translation into Islam was spearheaded by their own seven tapped translators.

As the connection between the two partners continues to grow, Paca now looks forward to a possibility that the eleven campuses of the MSU strategically established throughout Mindanao will also be completely engaged in ICRC’s initiatives soon. (CRG/PIA-Lanao del Sur)
