105 Godod farmers get 1M-worth agri inputs

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Sep 1 (PIA) – Godod farmers associations in Zamboanga del Norte received one-million pesos-worth of farm inputs, machinery for rice, and for vegetable production.

Through the DA–Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program, the three identified farmers and irrigators associations, namely: Sianan Makogihon Farmers’ Association (SMFA) (40 members), Lomogom Irrigators Association (25 members), and Gutayan-Domalinao Irrigators’ Association (40 members) received the livelihood project.

SAAD provided 60 bags of organic fertilizers, 70 bags of inorganic fertilizers, and some assorted vegetable seeds per association.

SMFA also received one unit thresher and one unit rice mill. Meanwhile, Gutayan-Domalinao Irrigators’ Association received one unit of rice mill. Each package of intervention is good for approximately 12 hectares.

The interventions provided are under the Fiscal Year 2020 and 2021 Upland Rice Production project of the program.

Regional Executive Director Rad Donn Cedeño of the Department of Agriculture-Region 9 led the turnover of agricultural inputs and farm machinery worth Php 1,011,000 in Sianan, Godod, Zamboanga del Norte on August 12.

“The DA and other government agencies will remain steadfast in providing the support you need, so you do not have to worry,” RED Cedeño assured.

Emphasizing on the importance of the farmers’ role in making the project successful, Godod Mayor Abel Matildo urged the farmers to do their part in sustaining the livelihood project.

“Since you are provided with immediate assistance by the government, all you have to invest is the diligence and dedication for the development of your association and your way of living,” Mayor Matildo said.

Also present were Agricultural Program Coordinator George B. Vallente, SAAD Provincial Coordinator Roger Dave F. Gramatica, Barangay Sianan Captain Euberto B. Badivas, SB Member Ricky Tuanda SAAD LGU focal person Rose Gandamon and other LGU personnel. (EDT/RVC/PIA9 with reports and photo from Aimee Lou D. Madjus/DA-RFO IX, SAAD)
