4Ps beneficiaries exit DSWD program in Puerto Galera

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) – At least 40 beneficiaries had exited recently in the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the town of Puerto Galera.

The 4Ps is a human development measure of the national government that provides conditional cash grants specifically to the poorest of the poor for them to improve health, nutrition and education of children aged 0-18.

Beneficiaries have already met the maximum age of their children, thereby making them excluded in the list of qualified beneficiaries of the program.

Though said numbers of exiting beneficiaries could no longer avail benefits from the program, Mayor Rocky D. Ilagan immediately prepared documents of all the exiting beneficiaries for them to be provided livelihood assistance from the local government.

Apart from this, the local chief executive instructed the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) to include in their list at least one student from every exiting family to be given educational assistance as a continuing aid of the local government to students for them to continue their studies.

Exiting beneficiaries of 4Ps also received certificate of recognition from DSWD and food packs from the municipal government.

Per DSWD Administrative Order No. 16, series of 2008, the main goal of program is to promote human capital among poor families especially children to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty.  (LTC/PIA-OrMin)
