CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--In ensuring safety of voters, candidates and staff, minimum public health standards are strictly imposed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec)-10 in holding various election-related activities.
Comelec-10 Regional Election Director Lawyer Francisco Pobe said they also coordinated with the other national line agencies like the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), “para mapahigayon nato ang kahapsay ug ang kamalinawon sa pagpahigayon sa pagdawat sa atong mga kaigsuonan nga gusto mu-file sa ilang certificate of candidacy.”

During the CORDS-X Podcast, October 9, Pobe told Communications Sec. and Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security (CORDS)-10 Martin Andanar that they have a special setup in handling the filing of candidacy including the establishment of a waiting area.
The regional director added that they are observing proper social distancing, checking of temperature, obtaining identification for tracing, and regular application of alcohol or sanitizers.
They also accommodate only two persons at a time for those who are filing their certificate of candidacy. The rest are asked to wait at the back portion of the office where chairs are provided.
Other Comelec services
After the conduct of the filing of certificates of candidacy, Pobe said they will return to their respective offices to pave the way for the extension of the registration of voters, October 11-30. The registration will be open Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
“Tanan nga klase nga isyu sa imong pagkatao sa imong records among pagadawaton maglangkob kini sa bag-o nga magparehistro, magpatransfer gikan sa gawas ug musulod, ang pag-reactivate sa imong records, ug ang pag-usab nato sa imong mga record sa imong pagkatao sa imong registration,” Pobe said citing the services that they offer.
(We will accommodate various issues on identification records including registration, transfer from abroad or going back to the country, reactivating records, and changing of records in the registration)
In 2019, Pobe said they have recorded 2.8 million voters in northern Mindanao and as of September 2021, 3.1 million voters in the region are already registered.
As for the vote counting machines (VCMs), there are 97 million VCMs in the country, which are up for refurbishment or upgrade. He added that the previous ratio was one VCM is to 1,000 voters per pre-clustered precinct but with the new normal, they will accommodate around 500 voters in a pre-clustered precinct.
"Ang atong eleksyon or atong bugnong lugaynon dili kini kaakohan nimo, dili kini kaakohan nako, dili kini kaakohan nila, kung dili kaakohan natong tanan. Ang buot ipasabot magtambayayong kita, magtinabangay kita ug mulantaw kita sa pakigbisog aron makab-ot nato ang lintuhanay ug tinuoray nga piniliay," Pobe said.
