SAN FERNANDO CITY, Oct. 12 (PIA) -- Work in government agencies and classes are suspended starting in the afternoon of Oct. 12 to Oct.13 because of moderate to heavy rains brought by Tropical Storm “Maring.”
On Tuesday afternoon, La Union Governor Francisco Emmanuel R. Ortega III issued Executive Order No. 49 series of 2021 declaring work suspension in all local government units and government line agencies and classes in public and private schools situated in the province.
According to Ortega, as of 8 a.m. on Oct. 12, there have been reports of flooded areas, landslides, and other road obstructions which have affected passibility of road networks, as well as a continued power outage in most parts of La Union.
“There is a need to suspend work in government offices/agencies in the province to ensure safety of public employees coming from the different areas of the Province and for them to attend to their families’ needs,” Ortega said.
However, departments and government line agencies whose services are essential in times of disaster and calamity, such as those providing emergency, health, and relief services, must remain operational.
Meanwhile, operations of private establishments shall be left to the discretion of their respective management.
