Reconstruction of Bubong Madaya mosque to start soon

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--The rebuilding of the Bubong Madaya mosque in the most affected area (MAA) of the city will start soon.

This developed after Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) and Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario led Friday, October 15, the signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) that will pave the way for the repair of the mosque through the P9,543,642.85 donation of Property Company of Friends Inc. (ProFriends) from its Incentivized Compliance to the Balance Housing.

The reconstruction deal was sealed by Sec. Del Rosario, Marawi City Mayor Majul Gandamra, ProFriends Executive Vice President Ma. Elisa Cielo,  and Saifoden Salbo of Prince Builders, Inc. as the contractor. The signing was witnessed by Bubong Madaya mosque administrator Yasrulah Sheik.

Del Rosario said the Bubong Madaya mosque is the ninth mosque pipelined for rehabilitation and reconstruction funded successfully by the private sector.

"As these mosques hold great significance in the daily lines of the Maranaws, we not only rebuild the structures but likewise contribute to the social healing process of the internally displaced persons. And that is why we continue to take steps in making sure that we rebuild them," he said.

The TFBM Chief also disclosed that Bubong Madaya mosque is the fourth place of Islamic worship supported for rehabilitation by ProFriends. The three other mosques were already completed, namely, White Mosque and Masjid Marinaut that were inaugurated in August of this year, and the Grand Mosque that is scheduled for turnover on Saturday, October 16, by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

As such, he thanked ProFriends for extending their hands to make the rebuilding and rehabilitation of destroyed Marawi mosques a reality.

Meanwhile, Cielo said ProFriends supports TFBM as they want to see their brothers and sisters in Marawi 'with uplifted spirits and confidence.'

"We are glad to participate in this very important project where the residents and the faithfuls can regularly pray and worship which will bring social healing and hope," she said. (APB/PIA Lanao del Sur)
