Manapla PRLEC scholars complete skills training

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) -- The COVID-19 pandemic did not dampen the eagerness of 21 Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) beneficiaries composed of farmers, fisherfolks, 4Ps beneficiaries and families of former rebels from Barangay San Pablo, Manapla town to complete their training on organic agriculture.
 
They were trained on Producing  Organic Fertilizer (leading to Organic Agriculture Production NC II) conducted by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

PRLEC in partnership with the local government of Manapla and Brgy. San Pablo officials of San Pablo honoured the graduates in a ceremony at Don Emilio Miraflores Sr. Memorial Elementary School in Brgy. San Pablo, said TESDA Information Officer Jenie Notchite.

TESDA Acting Provincial Director Romelia M. Nuezca said the training is a part of the Negros Occidental PRLEC goal of ending communism in the affected areas of the province.

For his part, Manapla mayor Manuel M. Escalante III congratulated the graduates and encouraged them not to waste the opportunity the government gave them.

He expressed his support to the programs of the PRLEC at the grassroots level.

Escalante and 2nd District Representative Leo Rafael M. Cueva gave additional P1,000 allowance each to the trainees.

The beneficiaries thanked TESDA and its partners- barangay officials of San Pablo, Office of 2nd District Rep. Cueva and Mayor Escalante for the training that will help them find opportunities for another a source of income.

After the ceremony, the beneficiaries underwent entrepreneurship training conducted by Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to help them put up their business or apply for employment. (AAL/TESDA/Lljr/PIA6 Negros Occidental)
