LGU Iligan monitors, calibrates gasoline stations

ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--The local government unit of Iligan through its Permits and Licenses Division (PLD) continues to carry out its tasks involving gasoline stations to ensure consumer protection.

PLD Head Rhodora Omblero detailed in the Local Price Coordinating Council media briefing Tuesday, October 19, that they are conducting price monitoring among gasoline stations every Tuesday to keep track of the price movement of gasoline, diesel, and the likes.

She shared that the data they gathered is also forwarded to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on the same day for consolidation and posting on their website.

“Diha nato madifferentiate sa uban nga gasoline stations, hantud didto sa unleaded, regular, premium, diesel, LPG, depende sa content… Ato gyud ni sila ginamonitor every week aron mahibaw-an sa atong consumers kung asa sila pwede mutubil nga gasoline station nga ang prices lower sa uban,” said Omblero.

[It is where we can differentiate other gasoline stations, up to the unleaded, regular, premium, diesel, LPG, depending on the content… We are really monitoring them every week so that our consumers will know in which gasoline station they should fuel up with prices lower than the other.]

The PLD head emphasized that during their monitoring, they did not find stations posting higher prices compared to the others as the majority of them are on the same level in terms of the costs.

Omblero said that they are also calibrating gasoline stations’ pumps wherein 26 out of 32 stations were already accomplished and only six remain uncalibrated.

Apart from these, they will also calibrate this week weighing scales in public markets. She said vendors need not worry, especially if their scales are new.

“Dili mana pwede nga dili sila magpaselyo so muadto gyud na sila sa opisina ug ilang paselyuhan ang ilang mga timbangan… Ang ato lang karon, imonitor nato kung dili ba tampered ang ilang mga timbangan so we have to conduct it yearly,” said Omblero.

[It is not okay that they will not be sealed so they really need to go to the office and their weighing scales should be sealed… For now, we will monitor if their weighing scales are tampered so we have to conduct it yearly.]

Following this, the PLD is set to hold the renewal of business permits for the year 2022. (CRG/PIA-Lanao del Norte)
