DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Nov. 5 (PIA) -- Presidential Communication Operations Office (PCOO) Sec. Martin Andanar highlighted the policies and measures geared implemented by the Duterte administration for the improvement of socio-economic welfare of the people as he continues to promote the Duterte Legacy to NegOrenses.
In an interview with DYWC Radyo Bandilyo on Nov. 2, Andanar said Pres. Rodrigo Duterte has also executed several policies that invested in the nation's human capital, aside from fulfilling his promises on improving the peace and order and law and order in the country, poverty alleviation, and reducing graft and corruption, and prioritizing major infrastructure programs.
Some of the measures he cited are the Universal Health Care Law which resulted in around 109 million Filipinos being covered by the state-run health insurance corporation PhilHealth, and the Free Tertiary Education Act which enabled around 1.6 million Filipino college students to enjoy free tuition in State Universities and Colleges.
The current administration also institutionalized its major tax reform programs which are the TRAIN Law and the CREATE Law.
Pregnant women have also been given priority with the implementation of the expanded maternity leave benefit which allows them to take 105 days of maternal leave to care for their newborn child.
In terms of livelihood, Andanar said the government’s flagship infrastructure program dubbed “Build,Build,Build” did not only focus on construction of roads, bridges, airports, and seaports but also provided jobs to 6.5 million Filipinos.
“If you really think about it, ubay-ubay gud ang nabuhat ni Presidente Digong (President Digong has done a lot),” Andanar said, as he stressed the importance of communicating these accomplishments to the public.
“We work based on public trust therefore we are trustees. Kamong katawhan, kamo ang trustor. Nisalig mo sa amo so mao na we need to report this. Kung ang mga vendor ga-report sila sa ilang mga investor kami pa sa gobyerno na trillion ang budget sa gobyerno,” Andanar said.
With 2022 an election year in the Philippines, he said promoting the Duterte Legacy is timely since it will help the Filipinos create a standard for the leaders they will choose next year.
“Unsaon nimo pag-vote wisely kung dili ka informed sa mga mabuhat sa gobyerno karon (How can you vote wisely if you are not informed on the current accomplishments of the government?),” Andanar stressed. (RAL/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
