Over 200 Maddela residents benefit from DOLE-TUPAD

276 beneficiaries of DOLE's TUPAD program in Maddela

MADDELA, Quirino (PIA) - - Some 276 residents who belong to the informal sector in this town recently received their wages for their 10 days of community work under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-Quirino Field Office).

DOLE Provincial Director Laura Diciano said that TUPAD is a program that aims to uplift the lives of marginalized workers and help them recover in this time of pandemic.

Diciano further said that said a total of P1,021,200.00 worth of wages has been released and each of the beneficiaries received a total of P3,700.00 for his/her 10 days of community work.

The payout was conducted as part of the BARANGAYanihan Duterte Legacy Caravan in the province.

"This is a continuous effort of the Department through the leadership of Secretary Bebot Bello to curb the adverse economic impact brought by the pandemic to the informa sector of our society," Diciano said.

Meanwhile Mayor Rimel Tolentino thanked the DOLE on behalf of his constituents. He also urged the beneficiaries to use their hard-earned wages for their families.

The payout was graced by DILG Assistant Regional Director Elpidio A. Durwin, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Agathon Pagbilao, DOLE and PESO personnel and representatives from other government agencies who are part of the Duterte Legacy Caravan.

To ensure the safety and health of the participants, minimum strict protocols were imposed during the duration of the payout activity. (MDCT/TCB/PIA Quirino)
