TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, (PIA) - - The wait is over for the 60 medical frontliners of Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) who received their Pfizer booster vaccines yesterday, six months after receiving their Sinovac COVID-19 vaccines in March.

Medical Center Chief Dr. Glenn Mathew Baggao said that they have been highly anticipating their booster shots since they are heavily exposed to COVID-19 patients, and that they are in the frontlines of implementing various health programs.

Baggao led 60 healthcare workers in receiving their booster shots, while the rest of the more than 2,400 CVMC populace will soon follow.

“We thank the national government, the Department of Health (DOH) as our wish was granted. This is a big help as it will serve as additional protection for us,” Baggao said.

Likewise, he expressed optimism for the continuous decrease of cases of COVID-19 patients admitted at the CVMC. He credited the decrease to the widespread vaccinations conducted and the cooperation of everyone who are responsible enough to submit themselves for inoculation.

From a high record of more than 360 patients admitted from July to September during the surge, the CVMC now has only 60 patients presently admitted as of yesterday.

During the activity, Baggao urged the unvaccinated to be inoculated and for the public to not to be complacent while the whole community continues to observe basic health protocols.

“We are happy now that slowly, we are seeing the trend of cases going down, and it is a big relief to all our medical frontliners,” Baggao added. (JKC/GVB/PIA Cagayan)
