Dr. Johnson P. Sunga, educational program supervisor of DepEd R1 stated that now is the time for the student journalists to renew their commitment.
He added, “It’s time for you to make your heart beat for journalism. This year’s RSPC aims to capacitate all of you learners, school paper advisers and relevant field personnel with the understanding of importance of journalism by expressing it through different journalistic endeavors and approaches.”
Among the roster of esteemed resource speakers during the event were Raymund M. Garlitos, Editor-at-Large of Liwayway Magazine and Manila Bulletin; Bam Alegre, a correspondent of GMA 7; Danilo A. Arao from the Department of Journalism in UP Diliman; and Willie Lomibao, a photojournalist of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, among others.
On the first day of the RSPC 2021, Editorial Cartooning, Photojournalism and Orientation for the Most Outstanding Campus Journalism Project were held, and participants were allowed to shoot their questions to the respective speakers of the events.
The second day was packed with six activities including Documentary Film, Sports Writing, Mobile Journalism, Online Publication, Research on Campus Journalism and Infomercial.
Meanwhile, on November 26, the last day of the RSPC 2021, the events held were Development of Instructional Materials on Campus Journalism, News and Feature Writing, TV Scriptwriting and Broadcasting, Editorial/Column Writing, Campus Journalism Vlog, and Radio Broadcasting and Scriptwriting.
According to Director Aquino, the 2021 RSPC was conducted in response to Department of Education’s goal of developing the 21st century skills not only of the learners but of others who may benefit from the event. (JCR/VMHS/ATV, PIA1)
