Dgte logs 66% of COVID-19 jabs

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Dec. 2 (PIA) -- About 66% of Dumaguete City’s target population of 96,049 residents have already received at least one dose of COVID-19 jabs as of Nov. 30.

This is part of the hundreds of children (12-17 years-old) who were vaccinated on the third and final day of the national vaccination drive dubbed "Bayanihan Bakunahan."

City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah Talla said about 113,335 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have already been administered to 66,146 eligible residents using Sinovac, Astrazeneca, Moderna, Sinopharm, Pfizer and the single dose Janssen jabs.

These include the 64,347 who got the first dose and the 1,799 who were vaccinated using the single dose Janssen jabs for a total of 66,146 residents.

Talla also said that 2,980 individuals received their COVID-19 jabs in the three vaccination sites at Pulantubig Gym, Foundation University Gymnasium and Robinson Place including those who returned to get their second dose. 

Of the 66,146 eligible residents vaccinated, 2,717 are medical frontliners or (A1), 7,986 senior citizens (A2), 9,124 persons with comorbidities (A3), 17,409 frontline personnel (A4), 22, 245 indigents (A5), 5,215 belonging to the rest of the adult population, and 1,450 Pediatric (12-17 years old) were vaccinated.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo lauded the volunteer health workers from the different government agencies and private organizations who augmented the regular workforce under the supervision of the City Health Office. 

Dumaguete City has eight vaccination sites that participated in the national campaign for mass vaccination, namely, Robinsons Place Dumaguete, Pulantubig Gymnasium and Foundation University Gymnasium Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital, Lamberto Macias Sports Complex, Silliman University Medical Center, Holy Child Hospital, and Ace Doctors.

Nurses and volunteer doctors from the Negros Oriental Medical Society, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Philippine National Police, and personnel from the Department of Interior and Local Government officers of the Sangguniang Kabataan augmented the government health workers assigned in the various vaccination sites in the city.
