OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)—On preparations for the coming elections, the Provincial Police Office (PPO) in Misamis Occidental established a Provincial/City and Municipal Election Monitoring Action Center all over the province.

This is to monitor situation and incidents that could affect smooth flow of election period. They will also monitor private armed groups and operation of loose firearms.

“Daghan atong mga preparations. Ang kani nga mga preparation dili lang ni sa election period but kung dili everyday gyud ni nga effort para ma-maintain gyud ang peace and order ug ma-lessen ang criminality dinhi sa atong probinsya,” PPO MisOcc Provincial Director PCol Rolindo Suguilon said.

(We have a lot of preparations. These preparations are not only during the election period but also every day in an effort to maintain peace and order and lessen crime in our province)

Suguilon said the PNP will remain non partisan and will always serve the public with utmost courtesy and discipline to ensure the honest, orderly and peaceful election.

“As the Provincial Director here in Misamis Occidental, the PNP will preserve the sanctity of the election. Hindi namin papayagan na meron sa amin na magagamit kung kaninong politiko, hindi namin papayagan na hindi magiging successful ang gagawin nating election kasi 'yan po ang rights natin so hindi namin papayagan na may mangugulo kahit na sa election or kahit na sa pang araw-araw nating pamumuhay sa probinsya. Hindi rin natin papayagan kahit sino pa na may mga kriminal na aktibidad na magiging dahilan sa gulo sa ating lugar,”

(We will not allow any of us to be used by any politician. We will not allow our election to be unsuccessful because that is our rights so we will not allow anyone to cause trouble even in the election or even in our daily lives here in the province. We will not also allow anyone else to have criminal activities that will cause trouble in our place)

Continued war on drugs

On efforts against illegal drugs and other crimes in the province, the Police Provincial Office in coordination with the Iligan City Police Office apprehended the top 5 wanted persons for illegal drugs in Iligan City.

“Akong gipanigurado nga ang PNP nagtinarong sa pagserbisyo ug matinud-anon sa atong katawhan sa probinsya ug wala nato gi-tolerate ang any wrong doings or mga illegal activities ug ang PNP MisOcc wala mo undang ug nagpabilin nga mag-enforce sa balaod ug nagpabilin nga mag-maintain sa kahusay ug kalinaw sa tibuok probinsya,” Suguilon said.

(I assure you that the PNP is justified in serving and being honest with our people in the province and we have not tolerated any wrong doings or illegal activities and the PNP MisOcc has not stopped and continues to enforce the law and remains steadfast to maintain peace and order in the province)

He shared that every month, the PNP has so many accomplishments. They have so many surrenders of firearms, search warrants applied for loose firearms and illegal drugs, massive operation of illegal gambling and illegal cockfighting, and many others.

Suguilon also clarified of the alleged planted search warrant on drugs of board member Elsa Navarro.

“Akong ikapaniguro nga wala kita nag-secure ug nagplano nga mu-apply ug search warrant ug ilabina gyud ang pagtanom ug ebidensya (I can assure you that we are not securing and planning to apply for a search warrant and especially planting and evidence). Also, I can also assure to the public that I will not tolerate actions of my personnel that could tarnish the image of the PNP,” the director said. (SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
