AVRC-1 surpasses target accomplishments for 2021

DAGUPAN CITY, Dec 10 (PIA) - -  The Area I Vocational Rehabilitation Center (AVRC) announces that it has surpassed its target number of clients served for the year.

In the AVRC Advisory Committee fourth  quarter meeting,  OIC-Center Head  Purita Cueto   said for 2021, the Center has surpassed its target of 141 on mobile assessment by serving 153 PWDs, garnering a 108 percent  accomplishment.

“Because of the pandemic,  we devised strategies. Instead of the PWDs coming to the center, the AVRC team goes to the community to serve them,” Cueto said.

She added that PWDs are not also assessed and trained but are also assisted in livelihood and employment opportunities through linkages with agencies and organizations.

The meeting presented the programs and projects of the Center and the Committee which include the ‘I LOVE PWDs’ or the Interactive Learning Opportunities Via Education for Persons With Disabilities which was recognized as one of the center’s best practices.

Dr. Edwin Ferrer of the Department of Education, who serves as chair of the AdCom, led the direction setting for 2022 which includes learning exchange and development programs.

“We offer voluntarily our services to help ensure that all programs and projects of DSWD AVRC are on the go and are smoothly implemented,” Ferrer said.

Other officers  of the AVRC AdCom include Maxima Technical and Skills Training Institute, PIA, LTO, TESDA, DA, PDAO, DOLE, DICT, DTI, Pangasinan PESO, Lyceum Northwestern University, Colegio de Dagupan, Breakthrough Generation Skills and  Development  Center, Dagupan CDRRMO and Rotary Club of Uptown Dagupan.
