CAMIGUIN (PIA)—As the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) placed the Province of Camiguin under Tropical Storm Warning No. 2 due to Typhoon Odette, the provincial government issued Executive Order No. 136 or the suspension of work in all government offices and all forms of classes in all levels in the entire province, December 16.
Gov. Jurdin Jesus Romualdo said such is issued to help citizens make adequate preparation and take shelter from the typhoon.
All forms of classes whether limited face-to-face or online classes shall be suspended in all levels to allow teachers and students to prioritize their safety and to prevent the aforesaid from going out of their homes or shelters to improve internet connectivity in online-based learning.
“The suspension of work to private establishments shall be left to the discretion and prerogative of their management. However, the prioritization of employee safety is highly encouraged,” Romualdo added.
The conduct of vaccination operations against COVID-19 is also suspended to remove unnecessary risk and danger, especially in traversing or traveling to the designated vaccination site.
Agencies delivering basic and health services, preparedness or response to disasters and calamities shall continue with their operations and render necessary services.
Romualdo further enjoined the citizens to make preparations to protect their lives and property, stock up on food, water and other basic necessities, and continue to monitor news or information from the provincial government.
Residents living in low-lying, coastal or riverside, flood-prone or landslide prone areas are requested to evacuate pre-emptively to the nearest evacuation center or to safer places. (RTP/PIA-10/Camiguin)
