SAN FERNANDO CITY, Dec. 20 (PIA) -- Key accomplishments were highlighted by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 1 during the annual State of the DSWD Region 1 Address (SODRA) on Friday, 17 December 2021.
Regional Director Marie Angela Gopalan reported on the accomplishments and successes of the agency in 2021.
"This is what we have done for this year as a unified field office," Gopalan said.
She shared that as 2021 is the second year of what we call life in the new normal, the agency began to respond more quickly and appropriately to its effects and became adept at adapting to the changes wittingly or unwittingly the best way they could.
“Our mission is directed at improving social protection, so that we are able to effectively contribute to the reduction of poverty as it is among the main causes of the many risks and vulnerabilities that we as a government agency, together with the private sector are fighting to eradicate.”
Meanwhile, as the year ends, she discussed the projects and programs they have planned for the coming years stating that the DSWD strategic focus until 2028 is to increase capacity of Local Government Units to improve the delivery of social protection and social welfare services, and to improve the well-being of beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program to strengthen the social welfare system.
“We wish to convey our accomplishment achieved to a large extent through the DSWD FO1 men and women that were determined and committed to report for work daily despite personal struggles and environmental challenges,” director Gopalan said.
The regional director also expressed her gratitude to the various regional line agencies, the Local Social Welfare Development Offices, the media, and the medical frontlines who continues to be committed in helping to alleviate the social economic impact of Coronavirus Disease-2019, other national disasters, and human induced hazards in the best way they know how.
“I am deeply indebted to the men and women who have always done their best to contribute and listen to the call for social protection and social services despite the pandemic, and those who continued to have the courage as frontliners in order for our beneficiaries to soar and move forward,” the DSWD regional director reiterated.
She said that with persistent and consistent commitment to their vision and discipline as public servants to provide a maagap, mapapagkalinga, at may malasakit na serbisyo to foretell a better future for our children, our youth, our women, our elderly people, those living with disabilities, and the less priveledeged, and marginalized kababayans, the DSWD men and women courageously faced and responded to the challenges as servant leaders.
