Nunungan exec says town now peaceful, welcomes dev’t

ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--The municipality of Nunungan in Lanao del Norte is now peaceful, according to Mayor Marcos Mamay.

This, alongside the welcoming of future development for Mt. Inayawan Range Natural Park and Nunungan Lake, with the good governance implemented.

“This is again proof na peaceful ang Nunungan knowing the fact ang Nunungan had been deprived of peace and development for the past decades. Nagbago ang Nunungan because of the good governance in this town,” said Mamay in an interview Tuesday, December 21.

The municipal chief executive shared that being recognized as the rido (family feud) capital of the province before, Nunungan has already gained peace through feuds settled with the significant cooperation of provincial leaders.

“Ang Nunungan was named as the rido capital ng Lanao del Norte which is very ironic ngayon kasi ito naman ang very peaceful sa buong Lanao del Norte… Nasettle ang mga family feud na malaking problema dito sa Nunungan. May mga maliliit [na cases] pero kering keri lang,” said Mamay.

With the positive status of the peace and order here, the mayor conveyed his gratitude to the national and provincial governments for their all-out support in the municipality.

Currently, it is batting for the inclusion of Mt. Inayawan Range Natural Park in the list of ASEAN Heritage Parks. (CRG/PIA-Lanao del Norte)
