DPWH begins construction of bridge in Dilasag

BALER, Aurora (PIA) -- Department of Public Works and Highways has started the construction of the P49 million Sapsap Bridge in Dilasag, Aurora.

Aurora District Engineer Roderick Andal said a simple groundbreaking activity was held in November to mark the start of construction of the project which is expected to provide safer travel to motorists crossing Sapsap Creek in barangay Dilaguidi.

"Every time there is a calamity, it has been difficult for residents and motorists to cross the creek due to the rapidly rising water, thus, the new bridge which is expected to be completed by the middle of next year will greatly benefit the public," he shared.

The bridge structure was designed with a net length of 50.0 meters, 290.0 meters approach, and carriageway width of 9.54 meters.

Concrete slope protection will also be constructed with steel sheet piles to protect the bridge against scouring.

"We have also provided a detour or access road for motorists while the bridge is being built," Andal added. (CLJD-PIA 3)
