DOLE releases P1.8M cash aid to TUPAD workers

LEGAZPI CITY, ALBAY (PIA) – Some 596 informal workers in this province have recently received P3,100 each for their ten-day work as beneficiaries of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.

A total amount of P1.84 million cash assistance was released by the department for the program before the end of the previous year.

The TUPAD program of the DOLE is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment to displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers.

In Legazpi City, 321 workers from Bitano and Estanza received their shares in their respective barangays.

"DOLE Bicol ensured that they will get their salaries before the year ended. We are wishing for a happy, safe and hopeful new year,” Ma. Zenaida A. Angara-Campita said.

In Daraga Albay, 275 from different barangays get their TUPAD cash aid on December 30 for the ten days clean-up drive and vegetable gardening.

“Prior to their work, they also received their Personal Protective Equipment and GSIS Insurance to ensure their safety during their working hours,” Campita said.

The beneficiaries in Daraga are from the barangays of Alobo, Burgos, Dela Paz, Dinoronan, Gabawan, Gapo, Inarado, Kinawitan, Kiwalo, Mabini, Balinad, Banadero, Bongalon Busay, Kidaco, Kilicao, Lacag, Matnog, Pandan and Salvacion. (SAA/PIA5/Albay)
