CEBU CITY, Cebu, Jan. 12 (PIA) -- The Regional Information and Communications Technology Committee (RICTC) of the Regional Development Council 7 (RDC-7) is urging local government units (LGUs) in Central Visayas to fast-track the uploading of its vaccination data in the Vaccination Administration System (VAS).
During the Regional Development Council (RDC-7) Fourth Quarter Full Council Meeting on Dec. 3, 2020, Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT-7) Regional Director Frederick Amores reported that based on the vaccination data submission to the VAS, Bohol logged the highest upload rate among the provinces in the region at 91%, followed by Cebu Province at 79%, Negros Oriental at 75%, and Siquijor Province at 48%.
Amores also sits as the chairperson of the Regional ICT Committee of RDC-7.
He said the submission of vaccination data to the VAS is in line with Republic Act 11525 or the Vaccination Program Act of 2021.
VaxCertPH is a self-service portal developed by DICT for the Department of Health for the issuance of digital vaccination certificates for vaccinated individuals in the country.
To issue the vaccination certificate, the portal pulls vaccination data uploaded by LGUs through the VAS.
The fast submission of vaccination data to the VAS will help in facilitating a quick issuance of digital vaccination certificates to fully vaccinated individuals, said Amores.
Digital vaccination certificates to be issued under VaxCertPH will serve as an official proof of vaccination for Filipinos and non-Filipinos who were vaccinated in the Philippines for the purpose of international and local travels.
This is also to address the need for countries that may require a vaccine certification issued by the DOH upon entry. (RGC/PIA7)
