CEBU CITY, Cebu, Jan. 11 (PIA) -- The Regional Development Council 7 (RDC-7) has passed a resolution urging local government units in Central Visayas to pass an ordinance that will facilitate the implementation of energy projects in their respective areas.

The recommendation for the said resolution was raised by the Infrastructure Development Committee (IDC) of RDC-7 with Gordon Alan Joseph as the chairperson after he presented the Mandaue City Drainage Master Plan which gained an endorsement from the RDC-7 during its Fourth Quarter Full Council Meeting on Dec. 3, 2021. 

The said drainage master plan seeks to validate and further analyze the flood-prone areas in Mandaue City, develop a comprehensive program to address flooding in the city, and to prepare the detailed engineering design for the identified flood control projects.

The passage of ordinances will harmonize and fast-track the implementation of various energy projects of LGUs in the region.

It will also establish, strengthen, and integrate the national energy plans, programs, policies, and mechanisms into the local development plans that promotes; energy safety practices, energy efficiency and conservation, energy resiliency, and energy planning which includes energy access and resource development.

It would help maximize the benefits from energy projects to the host communities and implement the other necessary programs and projects to spur the total development of the LGUs.

RDC-7 passed the said resolution as the council sees the potential benefits of energy projects especially in the areas of national wealth tax or government share, job creations, and other social and economic development programs. (RGC/PIA7)
