Remote Ifugao barangay beefs up communication skills

ASIPULO, Ifugao (PIA) – More than 25 officials, employees, representativess, and stakeholders of Barangay Camandag in  this town  participated in a three-day Skills Enhancement and Journalism Training held from January  3 to 5, 2022.

WRITING. Training participants craft documentation and reporting of barangay activities and programs during the workshop of the Skills Enhancement and Journalism Training in Barangay Camandag, Asipulo.

Said training spearheaded by the Barangay Local Government Unit aims to strengthen the capacity of the barangay  to improve  documentation, reporting, and communication of government activities, projects, and programs.

“The purpose of this training is for us to learn something so we can help each other for the improvement of our community,” said Camandag Punong Barangay Delson Humakey.

Resource speakers from the Philippine Information Agency tackled topics on documentation and reporting, basic news writing, photojournalism, e-mail and social media, layouting, and broadcasting.

Despite  power and connectivity issues, workshops were  conducted to give participants hands-on experience of the topics discussed.

“We learned much in the training. It is very informative since the participants are enjoying. I hope we can apply our learnings from the training,” shared training participant Julia Pulintino.

Barangay Camandag is among the far-flung communities in the province. It is one of the 79 conflict-vulnerable barangays identified by the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) as beneficiary of the Retooled Community Support Program, a convergence of government services and programs. 

FAR-FLUNG. A resident of Barangay Camandag, Asipulo on his motorcylce crosses the brige that connects the community to roads leading to town centers. Motorcycles are staple means of transportation because of the difficult conditions of most roads in the area.
