Negros Occidental steps up rebuild, restore works

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) -- The provincial government of Negros Occidental has stepped up the rebuilding and restoration efforts especially in the typhoon Odette hard-hit southern Negros.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson led the distribution of food assistance and housing materials to 2,368 residents of the 17 barangays in Sipalay City and truckloads of rice supply to Kabankalan City earlier this week.

In Sipalay City, each of the 2,368 recipients received six corrugated GI sheets, two plain GI sheets, five kilos of rice and four canned goods as well as seeds for high value crops.

All typhoon-affected local government units in the province were given their respective milled rice allocation from the Department of Agriculture and Office of the Provincial Agriculturist.

Meanwhile, the province, aside from help from the national government, also received donations from the private sector.

Lacson, with Provincial Administrator lawyer Rayfrando Diaz, received additional 500 food packs from Engr. Zosimo Briones of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) and relief goods and assorted toiletries from SM Store Bacolod led by Assistant Branch Manager Elka Torrejon, among other donations from private institutions.
