Nagtipunan's Agta community benefits from DOST CEST

NAGTIPUNAN, Quirino (PIA) - - The Department of Science and Technology Region 02, through the Provincial Science and Technology Center (PSTC) here, will provide a water supply under its Community Empowerment Through Science and Technology (CEST) program in order to address the lack of access to clean and potable water for the Agta people of Sitio Dioryong in Dicimungal.

The Provincial Science and Technology Center conducts a Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) in Sitio Dioryong, Nagtipunan.

In the recent Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) conducted by the PSTC, the Agta aired their concern over lack of access to drinking water especially during the summer.

"Upon hearing the current problems of the Agta, we immediately shared the assistance which they may get from the DOST’s CEST program, Provincial Director Angel Gorospe said.

Based on the assessment of the TNA team, the water system of the Agtas in the community is prone to natural hazards that affect the quality of water, which in turn eventually affects the community's health and nutrition.

The assessment was spearheaded by PSTC Provincial Director  Gorospe, together with Daisy D. Simon, Science Research Specialist and Nelson Calimag.

They were joined by Quirino SP Elizabeth Saure and Nagtipunan IPMR Representative Peter Santos. (JKC/TCB/PIA Quirino)
