Antique launches E-Bamboo Production Center

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) – Antique province has recently launched the Engineered Bamboo Production Center located at the main campus of the University of Antique.

The launching program is also in celebration of the 68th Foundation Anniversary of the University.

Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Antique Information Officer Lynna Joy Cardinal, in a press release, said that the Engineered Bamboo Center houses various mechanized equipment with a total worth of P13,512,500.00.

This is a Shared Service Facility (SSF) for the use of bamboo craft and furniture makers not only in Sibalom where the project is located but can also be used by other micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from other municipalities.

In his speech, University President Dr. Pablo S Crespo expressed his appreciation to Deputy Speaker Loren B. Legarda who facilitated the funding for the project, and to DTI for its assistance in the process of making the proposal a reality.

Legarda said, in her virtual message, that the SSF is a big boost to the bamboo industry which will provide additional opportunities and improve the lives of the Antiqueños.

With the SSF, improved quality of bamboo products, shorter time of production, decreased production cost is expected. These will result in better product marketability and increased income of the bamboo products producers.

Present during the launching ceremony were DTI Antique Director Ma Dinda R. Tamayo, UA Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Jelyn Alentajan, UA Campus Directo Dr. Nelly E. Mistio, and Sibalom Bamboo Crafters Association President Isaias Fabillo, among others. (JBG/DTI/PIA-Antique)
