DENR finishes several projects in Vizcaya

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA)- - The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has turned over various infrastructure projects for upland farmers here.

Regional Director of the DENR, Gwendolyn Bambalan, said that the P111.8 million-worth infrastructure projects were given to five local government units and an organization.

These included Agroforestry Support Facilities (ASF) such as the six irrigation pipeline systems in Barangays Nansiakan, Kayapa, and Carolotan in Dupax del Sur, Nantawakan in Kasibu, and Salingsingan in Ambaguio town. Others were a pathway in Bit-nong, Dupax Del Norte, an access road in Palabotan, Dupax Del Sur, and two bridges in Canabay, Dupax Del Sur.

The said facilities were constructed under the agency’s Forestland Management Project (FMP).

Bambalan explained that the infrastructure projects aim to  provide convenient access to the more than 5,000-hectare plantations established by the DENR and people’s organizations under the FMP.

“These projects will also facilitate economic activities as the farmers' produce will be easily transported from the farm to the market,” she said.

Bambalan also added that the  projects will forge partnerships among the national government agencies, the local government, and the community in the protection and rehabilitation of the forestlands. (JKC/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
