TESDA-CAR prioritizes health – related scholarship courses

BAGUIO CITY (PIA) - - The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority(TESDA) under the directive of Secretary Isidro Lapeña is now prioritizing the implementation of scholarship programs that can help local government units in their COVID – 19 response and infectious disease control and management.

The scholarships involve COVID-19 Preventive Measures in the Workplace Barangay Health Service NCII; Contact Tracing NCII and the Barangay Infectious Disease Management Service Level II.

The trainings   are  implemented by TESDA in coordination with the local government units after the Department of Health identifies the priority barangays while the  Department of the Interior and Local Government mandates the identified barangay to select the training participants.

TESDA - CAR Regional Director Jeffrey Ian Dy presents TESDA Training Institutions and private tech - voc institutions in the region that are offering health - related training programs.

TESDA-Cordillera  Regional Director Jeffrey Ian Dy endorsed  this training initiative and implementation plan at the joint meeting of the Regional Task Force against COVID – 19 and the Regional Inter Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease last Jan. 21.

Dy shared that first on TESDA – CAR’s  implementation list is the conduct of  a 15 day Contact Tracing Training, which hopefully  begins this week. All TESDA Provincial/City Training Centers  in the region are capable of delivering such training.

TESDA-CAR hopes to implement the 58 -day Barangay Health Services NCII Training in all Cordillera provinces by Feb. 14 while the 11- day Barangay Infectious Disease Management Service Training will be implemented first in Ifugao and Mountain Province by January 31, then to the other areas by Feb. 14, he added.

Dy said that aside from the free skills training,  daily training allowance  will  be provided to trainees. All training graduates will be endorsed to their  respective LGUs and the DILG for possible job opportunity.

RTF Chairperson and Office of Civil Defense Regional Director Albert Mogol endorsed the presented TESDA training program to the Cordillera LGUs   as it offers a very good opportunity for them to upgrade the level of their response capability.

RIATF Chairperson and DILG Regional Director Araceli San Jose also lauded the TESDA training programs and encouraged LGUs to hire the contact tracing graduates  to  help in containing the spread of COVID -19 infections in their community. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
