P224 million bypass road in Cabagan competed

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - The Department of Public Works and Highways - Isabela 1st District Engineering Office (DPWH-1DEO) has completed a P224 million Cabagan mega-bypass road.

According to Loreta Malauan, DPWH's regional head in Cagayan Valley, the bypass road will open up sites for industrial development creating new communities and providing employment opportunities to local residents and its nearby places.

The bypass road is also expected to give convenience in transporting agricultural and commercial products from the countryside to major economic hubs in urban areas.

“The four-lane bypass road equipped with light posts, lay-by areas, sidewalks, and bicycle and tree lanes will reduce travel time by 10 to 20 minutes,” Malaluan said.

She added that the bypass road, as the newest route between Tuguegarao City, Cagayan and the City of Ilagan, will also greatly reduce the travel time between the two provincial capitals. It traverses Barangays Ngarag, Poblacion, and Ugad in Cabagan.

The project was funded under the DPWH Regular Infrastructure Program FY 2018-2020. (JKC/MGE/PIA Isabela)
