DOLE-LDN helps workers with labor settlement claims via SEnA

ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--To further extend aid to workers in need, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Lanao del Norte implements the Single Entry Approach (SEnA) aiming to assist in labor settlement claims.

DOLE-Lanao del Norte Provincial Head Atty. Safrali Cabili explained that this approach does not promote the filing of lawsuits between complained employer and complainant employees as it would rather meet the needs through a peaceful agreement.

“Kana na program, dili na sila gakaso. Ang ginabuhat namo is gapananingkamot ta na makatabang sa ila na mareach nila ang amicable settlement para dili muabot sa kinasuhay. Sa level pa lang sa DOLE, pwede sila magsettle ug mag-agree sa mga claim sa atong workers,” he said.

[That program, it does not sue. What we do is we strive to help them reach an amicable settlement so that it does not reach suing each other. At the level of DOLE, they can already settle and agree with the claims of the workers.]

Among the concerns raised under the program are deprivation of 13th-month pay and underpayment.

Just this month of January, the province’s SEnA settled a remuneration of non-payment of 13th-month pay worth P1,053,000 for several employees of Maria Christina Chemical Industries (MCCI) Corporation.

With the implementation of more programs by the DOLE, Cabili conveyed they are committed to be with private employees needing their assistance.

“Ang Department of Labor and Employment, gapaningkamot pud sila na makahatag og tabang sa atong mga empleyado sa ating informal ug formal sectors,” he said.

[The Department of Labor and Employment is also doing its best to give help to our employees in the informal and formal sectors.] (CRG/PIA-Lanao del Norte)
