DAGUPAN CITY, Feb. 7 (PIA) – The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) turned over 50 new patient transport vehicles (PTVs) to local government units (LGUs) and province-owned hospitals nationwide to enhance the delivery of emergency health services to the public.
PCSO vice chairperson and general manager Royina Garma led the ceremonial turnover of the PTVs to beneficiaries held on Friday at the Toyota Otis in Paco, Manila.
“Magamit ito ng mga kababayan natin na higit na nangangailangan at lalong lalo na ‘yong mga hindi maka-afford rumenta ng mga sasakyan upang madala sila sa ospital o from the hospital ay maiuwi sila sa kanilang mga bahay,” Garma said in an interview.
The program is funded by revenues from PCSO games nationwide.
In Pangasinan, the municipality of Asingan is one of the 15 LGUs in the country that received the PTV through the Medical Transport Vehicle Donation Program of the PCSO.
Asingan Mayor Carlos Lopez Jr. is thankful to the PCSO for this PTV that will boost the LGU’s capacity in providing medical service and in responding to the ongoing public health emergency.
“Inaasahan ang malaking tulong nito upang mapabilis ang pagresponde sa tuwing may mga emergency, kalamidad at sakuna,” the PIO Asingan said in its Facebook post.
It added, “Ang PTV ay magiging katuwang din ng health authorities ngayong panahon ng pandemya na dulot ng COVID-19.” (JCR/AMB/PIA Pangasinan)
