LAMUT, Ifugao (PIA) - - The provincial government has relaxed restrictions in transporting swine for more local production in accordance with existing policies.
Governor Jerry Dalipog issued an executive order addressing the impact of African Swine Flu in the province, encouraging local production of healthy swine and relaxing restrictions on the transport of swine in accordance with strict qualifications.
Entry of piglets and fattening pigs from sources will be allowed provided there is veterinary health certificate signed by a licensed veterinarian and a shipping permit. These requirements will be presented by the shipper to quarantine personnel upon entry in the province with personal evaluation and approval by the provincial veterinarian at the checkpoint.
“Local swine raisers are allowed and encouraged to actively participate in the raising and production of swine to help address the high demand and need for pork in the province,” Dalipog stated.
The need and demand for pork is notably increasing, hence the participation of stakeholders is needed to address the problem without sacrificing public health and well-being, he added. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
