LEGAZPI CITY, ALBAY – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in this province is spearheading the conduct of various activities for the 32nd Civil Registration Month celebration with the theme: “Improving Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Implementation Strategies through Digital Transformation”.
Cross Doree Lee, information officer, said this year's celebration aims to strengthen and intensify the PSA commitment and advocacy to deliver effective and efficient civil registration and vital statistics to the clients and stakeholders.
The annual celebration is mandated under Presidential Proclamation No. 682 signed on 28 January 1991 by former President Corazon C. Aquino, declaring February as the Civil Registration Month.
“The changes in civil status and other circumstances in life also define rights and previleges, and we need official and permanent records and documents that cannot just be changed. There is a process to correct errors,” she added during the Talakayan sa PIA Albay program.

Parts of the activities in Albay include mobile registrations, mass wedding and information dissemination activities like hanging or display of streamers and publication of information for public awareness on the importance of civil registration.
Also held earlier this month are coastal clean-up and gift giving to selected senior citizens.
On February 18, the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics 101 training will be conducted for local civil registry staff and hired employees, stressing on the fundamentals and basic principles of civil registration.
