DOT opens farm tourism in CagVal

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - - Department of Tourism (DOT) Regional Director Fanibeth Domingo recently declared the opening of farm tourism sites in Cagayan Valley region.

This development came as the Philippines opened its doors to international tourists and Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs).

“We are looking into an increase in tourist arrivals this summer and we have to give back something in return. We have to encourage our tourism workers to be vaccinated and boostered against COVID-19,” she said during the conduct of the event ‘KULINARYA’ 2022 at the Courage Mountain in Barangay Bansing in this town.

Domingo said that DOT-accredited Farm Stays and Day Farms are top destination drawers because they are pandemic- compliant and they promote activities in open spaces.

She also urged tourism stakeholders to provide them with the number and reports of vaccinated tourism workers to update the National Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 (NIATF).

“This report actually triggered the decision of the NIATF to change our category from closed to open. Let us give this report and encourage our tourism workers to be vaccinated to the fullest," she said during the activity. (BME/PIA NVizcaya)
