BONTOC, Mountain Province(PIA)-- Five micro, small and medium enterprises in theprovince are the latest beneficiaries of the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) ofthe Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
The DOST through Provincial Science and Technology Center Mountain Province recently signed a memorandum of agreement with SETUP cooperators Patty’s Food Product, Makhuway's Peanut Butter, Mountain Welds and Designs Metal Fabworks, KC Shop, and JF Backyard Chicken Farm for the implementation of the project this 2022.
Provincial Director Alfonso Berto saidMakhuway's Peanut Butter will be provided with peanut roaster and peanut peeler; KC Shop with lathe machine; Patty’s Food Product with electric gas oven, food mixer, manual dough cutter, chiller, freezer and stainless table; Mountain Welds and Designs Metal Fabworks with pipe bender and heavy-duty box bender; and JF Backyard Chicken Farm with fully automatic setter incubator, hatcher incubator, brooder cages and broiler cages.
As stipulated in the MOA, it is the responsibility of thecooperators to properly maintain the equipment to be provided by DOST, which has also the right to pull out all tools and equipment if the project is terminated.
The DOST-SETUP is a nationwide strategy encouraging and assisting micro, small, and medium enterprises to adopt technological innovations to improve their products, service, operations and increase their productivity and competitiveness.
