ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--The Fire Safety Enforcement Section Chief of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) here appealed for understanding in the delay of fire safety inspection (FSI) and issuance of FSI certificate.
"Sad to note nga gamay ra kaayo ang mga inspector so dili namo ma-cater nga pagpasa ninyo mainspect dayon namo [that there are very few inspectors so we can't cater right away your submitted applications]," SFO3 Raymundo Maliao told business owners during the Kapehan sa Iligan Chamber Friday, February 18.
"Mohangyo mi nga tagaan ug gamay nga lugway kay daghang business sa Iligan pero gamay ra mi nga inspectors [we ask for a little more time because there are many businesses in Iligan but we have very few inspectors]," he said.
Maliao assured that they are doing their best to schedule an inspection once they receive an application.
For the first quarter of this year, BFP Iligan targets to inspect 3,699 establishments or 1,233 every month. Though they have completed the inspection of the 1,233 establishments in January, BFP-Iligan has only issued 409 FSICs as of press time.
Meanwhile, the City Permits and Licensing Division (PLD) said they still issue business permits while awaiting the FSIC from the BFP.
Maria Rhodora Omlero, OIC of the PLD, said they are putting a stamp in the permit stating that it is only valid for 60 days pending the release of FSIC. This, she said, is the city government's way of complying with the ARTA while giving enough time to the BFP to conduct an inspection and issue FSIC. (APB/PIA ICIC)
