ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--A party-themed vaccination drive for children aged 5 to 11 kicked off at Robinsons Place Iligan. 

This is the second launching of the ‘Resbakuna Kids’ campaign in the city spearheaded by the Iligan City government and Department of Health.

Acting City Health Officer Belinda 'Bunz' Lim called on parents to get their kids vaccinated to protect and prepare them for face-to-face classes in the future. 

“Kining mga bata naa pod silay katungod na mugawas sa balay. Ato jud ni silang ipaready, iprepare aron na naa pod silay proteksyon sa ilang lawas batok sa Covid -19 ug aron makaagwas napod sila sa balay. Ang pinaka importante aron maka face-to-face na sila puhon sa eskwela,” she said. 

[The children also have the right to leave the house. Let's get them ready, and prepare so that they have the protection of their body against Covid -19 and so that they can get out of the house. The most important thing is that they can join the face-to-face classes soon.]

Meanwhile, Dr. Emma Pilar Imperio of the Department of Health Center for Health Development - Northern Mindanao said that vaccination sites for children in the 5 to 11 age group should be separated from 12 years old and above to avoid medication errors. 

The vaccinated children received lollipops and candies from Rotary Club of Iligan Maria Cristina and balloons from the City Health Office. The Robinsons Place Iligan also prepared the venue with festive decorations and mascots and provided the children with giveaways.  

A total of 57, 480 children are targeted to be vaccinated based on Philippine Statistics Authority’s projected population for 2022.
